Welcome fellow Browncoats! We're based in Atlanta, Georgia and are known to have all manner of fun! The Atlanta Browncoats formed in the fall of 2005 and has been going strong ever since! We've held seven successful theatrical screenings of Serenity to benefit Equality Now($14,105.36) and the Atlanta Community Food Bank($3,003.44 and 1,049lb. of food). We meet every third Sunday at 1PM at Manuel's Tavern, come join us!

What do we do?
On the laid-back end of the spectrum, we meet monthly and discuss Firefly, plus whatever other science fiction mischief we're into. We also hang out during Dragon*Con. However, our big event of the year is Atlanta's participation in the world-wide screening of Serenity to benefit Joss' favorite charity Equality Now.

How to get involved?

• Make sure to register and join the Atlanta Brigade group (if you want to be invited to our shindigs). If you'd like to support our efforts, you can also become an official member. For just a little over $2/month you can help us continue our good works!
• Come to one of our monthly meetings
• Join one of our brigades that helps with planning our screening

Come dressed in your favorite shindig outfit/costume and raise the roof at Manuel's for our 1st annual(we hope) Shindig, as we try to have some fun and help out the Atlanta Food Bank and Equality Now.  Details here.

Raised $370 for the Atlanta Community Food Bank and $92 for Equality Now.

*For every $1.00 donated, the Atlanta Community Food Bank is able to provide $7.91 worth of groceries for those in need within our community. Thus, with the $370.00 in donations received from your 5/15/10 event- “Big Damn Shindig,” we’re able to create approximately $2926 worth of groceries, which will help support our over 700 partner agencies in 38 counties, feeding people in need. Hey all!  I hope everyone had as much fun at Dragon*Con as I did.  We were able to secure some great items for the charity auction at Can't Stop the Serenity while at the Con again this year.  Also, there's a few new Photo Galleries that have been added to the site, so feel free to upload your pictures of your fellow Browncoats.  Our next meetup will be September 20th at Manuel's Tavern, although we'll be moving back to the side room again (turn right as you come in the front doors) since we've outgrown the Eagle's Nest.  Get your tickets for CSTS at the Plaza Theater now, and we're still willing to take donations if people have things they'd like to contibute to the charity auction.  Stay Shiny! - Celestine

Thanks to everyone who came out to our last meeting on the 16th.  Another great turnout and if we keep growing, they're going to need to find a bigger room for us at Manuel's.  A couple of things I wanted to note.  We appreciate all the people who have donated items for the Can't Stop the Serenity charity auction and those who've already purchased their tickets.  There's still two more weeks to get the special price of 2 tickets for $20 which is thru the end of Dragon*Con. 

Thanks everyone for such a shiny time last night! Am still waiting for some receipts, but once I have that, we'll know the final amount we raised for equalitynow.org! I know it's at least over $1000!! I didn't end up having time to snap photos, so if anyone took pictures I've created an album called CSTS 2008 so you can upload.
